JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision by the Director of Marketing, China, assist in communicating and working with partner entities including statewide destination marketing organizations (DMO's), state offices and other tourism partners.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 50%: Day-to-day coordination of marketing campaigns to attract and engage Chinese tourists to the state of California; liaise with Visit California's China partners in greater China regions (mainland China and Taiwan) to assist with marketing plans, market data updates, coordination of contracts, and in-market promotional activities; and perform analysis on marketing programs and prepare reports for Visit California's commission meetings, symposium and annual reviews, including evaluation of budgets, return on investment (ROI), consumer preferences, and marketing expenditure data to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
  • 30%: Organize and attend international and domestic trade shows and sales events; interact with the travel trade and media via written correspondence, telephone solicitation and at trade events; track and distribute internal marketing information and materials; and liaise with key wholesalers, public relations professionals, and help develop social media messages to market opportunities.
  • 20%: Generate marketing opportunities for Visit California, acting as a point of contact for questions concerning brand guidelines and usage for corporate advertising assets; maintain client database; and draft media packages for new tour initiatives. No management of employees.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations or related, plus 12 months of professional experience must include development of marketing campaigns on behalf of or for destination management organizations (DMO’s) with focus on inbound tourism from mainland China market. Domestic travel primarily within California approximately 5 times per year. Limited international travel.
