Announcing full slate of Global Ready: India seminars for June

By Amber Rich 06/08/2018

California: Are you India-ready?

Last fall, Visit California hosted the latest evolution of the popular California Global Ready seminar series, pivoting the program to the market with the greatest potential for outbound tourism growth of anywhere in the world: India. This summer, industry partners throughout the state have multiple opportunities to take part with a full slate of just-announced June seminars.

India’s outbound tourism market is primed for a significant boom given the country’s enormous population – the youngest on the planet – and its economic trajectory.

Indian travelers spend an average of more than $2,500 per person in California on a given vacation and stay the longest – 19 days on average – of any travelers on the planet.

According to Tourism Economics, California commands approximately 30 percent market share of the Indian outbound travel market to the United States, accounting for 338,000 visitors in 2017 who spent $760 million in the Golden State.

As more direct flights from the market to California come online, the number of Indian visitors is projected to increase dramatically over the coming years, and by 2021, Indian travelers are projected to spend more than $1 billion in the state. With such great potential from the Indian market, there’s no better time to ask: Are you India-ready?

Join Visit California and industry experts for upcoming events in Napa, Oakland and Greater Palm Springs throughout the month. Attendees will get an in-depth look at the growing and dynamic Indian market while learning how to attract, engage and keep these valuable travelers.
