WHAT'S NEW IN CALIFORNIA
On a quarterly basis, content calls for What’s New in California are included in the monthly PR emails. Submit new attractions, hotel and restaurant openings to be featured in our seasonal What’s New in California publication, which is printed and online.

PRIORITIZE HIGH-QUALITY CONTENT
Please be sure to reach submission guidelines carefully, as we often cannot feature events, classes or packages. Contextual copy, image resolution and access to supplementary information make for more engaging storytelling.

REVIEWED BY A DEDICATED BOARD
Public Relations content submissions are shared with and reviewed by Visit California’s Editorial Board for possible inclusion on VisitCalifornia.com, social media and other owned channels.

  • PR submissions are only accepted in response to a “Call for Content” from the PR team. Sign up to receive notifications here.
  • Only a limited number of PR pitches can be used within each story idea, so please make sure your submission closely aligns with the lead.

What happens to my story idea submissions?

All story idea submissions are reviewed and shared with Visit California’s global PR team for proactive media pitching and for use as a resource in reactive leads. The submissions are also used to create polished story ideas that are posted to the Media Center and used when pitching to media.

What happens to What’s New in California content after it’s submitted?

Content that meets the criteria – such as openings of new attractions, hotels and restaurants; large-scale renovations of attractions or hotels; and any other similar tourism-related news – is included in the quarterly What’s New in California print publication, which is mailed out to media and industry. Top-line content is also distributed via e-newsletter to media and industry with a link to the full publication. In addition, submissions are updated on media.VisitCalifornia.com in real time.

Who reviews my content?

PR submissions are reviewed by Visit California’s PR team and shared with all PR agencies and the Visit California content team for consideration across web and social channels as well.
