JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

This position, in collaboration with the brand team members, will be the key point of contact for Visit California’s brand agency of record for on- and offline- marketing and advertising programs. These programs include consumer-orientated advertising initiatives in broadcast, print, display, search engine marketing, and other advertising sponsorship programs.

 

As the Brand Marketing Manager focused on the media program, this position will be responsible for overseeing the Visit California’s campaign structure and the execution of the creative across multiple media environments. The Global Media Brand Manager will work day-to-day with the media agencies, partners and media platforms to develop and executive the Visit California global brand campaigns.

 

This position will review and support the executive presentation of all media recommendations and ensure the highest level of performance, media efficiency and integration across the global media program. The Brand Manager will have a specific focus on the media program and will manage the presentation of media strategy, media authorizations, billing reconciliations, and overall global media budget for Visit California’s approximately $60 million media program of work.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Specific Duties Include:

  • Agency management of the core media agencies to develop media strategy for global program of work. Works with the marketing executive team to establish the prioritization and plan for Visit California’s media budget.
  • Budget management and alignment of all agency invoices related to media. This position works closely with the finance team and the brand budget manager to develop the processes and financial reconciliation required for media program.
  • Development and management of all RFP processes, management of 3rd party resources conducting all media audits. The Global Media Brand Manager will have responsibility to communicate with the finance team on all aspects of compliance and financial reporting.
  • The successful candidate will act as brand manager and key point of contact for questions concerning media contracts and relationships.
  • Will work with the agency to ensure appropriate response to all advertising program requests and opportunities.
  • Work with the Director of Research to measure advertising ROI; and
  • Support Visit California’s executive team on the strategy and future of the digital media environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 50% Develop and manage an integrated media marketing plan, working directly with advertising and media agencies and other related media partners and resources to execute the brand advertising plan. The role will focus on all media channels for the global program of work - United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom and China in the short term.  Meet weekly with the advertising agency to review the status of all pending projects.  Manage and reconcile the advertising budgets for assigned markets.
  • 30% Work with operation and finance teams to ensure that all media authorizations, budget reconciliations and financial projections are maintained. Execute the program management with audit agencies and reporting entities for program oversight and efficiencies.
  • 10% Manage Quarterly Business Review meetings with brand agency partners.
  • 5% Develop industry reporting and communications specific to the media program of work.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Essential Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key duty satisfactorily, as well as exhibit the following qualifications:

  • Ability to develop, manage and communicate advertising media plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in advertising, media, and agency management, including media buying process, maintenance, reporting and media reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated experience with budget management of large-scale branded advertising campaigns.
  • Experience in managing agency resources as well as internal staff.
  • Past experience with media programming and analytical skills to prioritize key markets and work with agency to execute the proposed yearly media plans.
  • Professional experience in the tourism industry preferred.
  • International marketing experience strongly preferred.
  • Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, advertising, recreation, tourism, or related field a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, build business rationale for key recommendations and meet approval deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some travel may be required.
