IT Solution Architect

Position Summary:

Manage IT related projects involving multiple departments, advising and managing organizational architecture integrations, risks related to budget, timeline, and scope. Coordinate multiple simultaneous projects and look for opportunities for cross-department communication, and advise and manage organizational architecture integrations, risks for redundant work, data silos, and data governance issues. Work with program managers to obtain bids and proposals and prepare scopes of work. Duties may also include standard Enterprise and Technical Architect duties.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 50% Evaluate and recommend improvements or solutions that meet organizational goals. Work with other department team members to architect solutions based on requirements produced by or assigned to the IT Solution Architect. Identify and recommend the most appropriate technology for each solution. Help evaluate vendor proposals and solutions to ensure they meet Visit California requirements and needs. Guide those proposals into Scopes of Work for use in Contracts, Requests for Bids, or Requests for Proposals.
  • 20% Help manage IT projects to ensure objectives are met, and that each project adheres to its timeline and schedule.
  • 10% Help develop, document, and monitor our reference architecture, and help develop and monitor governance processes to ensure our architecture stays on track.
  • 10% Evaluate requests for new systems and applications, helping determine whether requests adhere to reference architecture, determine whether potential solutions may currently exist within the organization, and architect solutions based on requests.
  • 10% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key duty satisfactorily, as well as exhibit the following qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience working as a Solution, Technical, and/or Enterprise Architect.
  • Project management experience; certifications a plus.
  • Experience developing and documenting enterprise reference architecture.
  • Experience with security best practices related to applications, servers, and networks.
  • Education or additional experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree or higher in an information technology/web-related field.
  • Web development, network administration, and database administration experience a plus.
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Experience with Integration Platforms as a Service (IPaaS) a plus.
  • Data warehouse design and implementation a plus.
  • Digital dashboard system management a plus.
