California artists turn up the volume in 'USA Through Music' series

By Lisa Martinez 04/05/2018

As part of Visit California’s partnership with Brand USA, California has been featured in two content vignettes produced by BBC Worldwide that tell the Golden State story through the uniquely personal lens of music.

The series, "USA Through Music," celebrates the diversity and history of the United States as told by musicians across the country. The content activation ties in with Brand USA’s new IMAX film "America’s Musical Journey," which premiered in February 2018.

Visit California partnered with Brand USA to showcase California as part of the national “USA Through Music” series. Brand USA’s partnership with BBC Worldwide continued for the third year with the selection of content vignettes — two of which featured local California artists: Sebu Simonian of Capital Cities and Beth Cosentino of Best Coast. The vignettes tell each artists' personal stories while also spotlighting iconic Golden State destinations.

The series' two Golden State-focused installments found Southern California providing a perfect backdrop. The two vignettes take viewers through Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Burbank, Santa Monica, San Clemente, Dana Point, San Marino and Glendale.

The vignettes were distributed globally through BBC Worldwide in two waves during the fall of 2017 through early 2018. Distribution waves also included broadcast and digital distribution in Europe, Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, South Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, and Asia Pacific.
