California Tourism Month

May 2023

more information

In 2016, the California Legislature passed a bipartisan resolution declaring May California Tourism Month, spotlighting tourism’s role as a key economic driver for the Golden State. Travel is ingrained in the state’s very identity, and its economic and cultural benefits are undeniable.

This year, Visit California is calling on California tourism partners to communicate that tourism is back and to share tourism's economic impact with local representatives, media and your community. Tourism Month kicked off with a press conference by Visit California President & CEO Caroline Beteta, live from Los Angeles International Airport’s Tom Bradley Terminal.

New Economic Impact & Community Research

To support this effort, Visit California is sharing new Economic Impact numbers for the state and counties. A second report contains the findings of Visit California's regional Community Sentiment Study.
