The 2022 Poppy Awards received a record number of submissions that showed a staggering breadth of creative solutions to promoting tourism and solving stewardship challenges through a pandemic. This impressive body of submissions gave the judges of Visit California’s biennial awards the imposing task of selecting finalists.

Visit California welcomed Calaveras Visitors Bureau to close out the 2021 Third Thursday program. Conveniently located less than three hours from Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco and Sacramento, Calaveras offers a convenient escape with big attractions minus the big crowds. Those in the know visit Calaveras for its vast outdoor spaces.

After international travel restrictions were lifted on Nov. 8, 2021, Visit California resumed hosting international media. Through a series of familiarization tours, influential journalists from Canada, France, Germany, Mexico and the U.K. created California travel stories to share with these valuable markets.
