Tourism is back and thriving in California, and the Golden State enjoys largest tourism market share in the U.S. Join Visit California all May in sharing the importance of tourism with legislators, key stakeholders and our communities.

About California Tourism Month

In 2016, the California Legislature passed a bipartisan resolution declaring May California Tourism Month, spotlighting tourism’s role as a key economic driver for the Golden State. Travel is ingrained in the state’s very identity, and its economic and cultural benefits are undeniable. 

New Economic Impact & Community Research

To support this effort, Visit California is sharing new economic impact numbers for the state and counties. The report, commissioned by Visit California and conducted by Dean Runyan Associates, describes the economic activity associated with travel throughout the state, detailing important trends within the industry.
