Responsible Travel Code
Just weeks before the coronavirus pandemic made landfall in the United States, Visit California published a draft Destination Stewardship and Sustainable Travel Plan, a key step to establish California as a leader in sustainable tourism.
Now the tourism landscape is recovering after the economic and human loss of the pandemic, and the need to preserve California continues. This means the tourism industry must ask visitors – including California residents – to continue to respect our communities, our environment, our businesses, and the fellow travelers and locals they meet along the way.
This Responsible Travel Code sets the stage for what is expected of travelers in the Golden State. Below is a toolkit for tourism businesses and destinations to amplify the R.E.S.P.E.C.T message to travelers as welcome them back.
