Marketing Assistant

Position Summary:

Supports the Director of Consumer Content and the Associate Vice President-Global Brand Advertising along with the wider marketing team. Responsibilities include assistance with English and non-English speaking (NES) marketing programs, facilitating Brand & Content Committee, Global Content and marketing team status meetings, as well as operational duties, such as scheduling, drafting correspondence, coordinating travel logistics and preparing meeting materials.


Position will work closely with the Visit California admin team, particularly the Marketing Executive Assistant/Assistant to the VP of Marketing and the International Marketing Assistant, to ensure alignment across the marketing leadership team.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 75% Assist the marketing team, and in particular, the Director of Consumer Content and the AVP-Global Brand Advertising, with coordination and execution of day to day programs. 
  • 10% Facilitate scheduling of Brand & Content Committee meetings, consumer marketing team status meetings and other regular meetings as determined by the Director and AVP. Prepare agendas, aggregate meeting materials, take minutes and communicate follow ups/actions as needed. 
  • 10% Work with Visit California admin team, particularly the Marketing Executive Assistant/Assistant to the VP of Marketing and the International Marketing Assistant to ensure alignment across the entire marketing team.
  • 5% Provide administrative support to the Director of Consumer Content and the AVP-Global Brand Advertising. Manage all scheduling, including calendar management, meeting coordination, preparation and logistics. Manage travel arrangements and expense claims as needed.  

Essential Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key duty satisfactorily, as well as exhibit the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of two-three years professional experience in marketing and/or the tourism industry preferred.
  • Competency in a variety of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and experience with scheduling and conducting webinars.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels within organization.
  • Education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in marketing, advertising, recreation, tourism or related field a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Some travel may be required.
