A contracted Director of Association Relations (Association Liaison) will make year-round contact with key staff at the Destination Marketing Organizations, chambers and associations not actively engaged with Visit California. This Association Liaison will schedule informal meetings to present marketing material and will share resources and information to pass on to associations’ membership bases that are often largely comprised of tourism businesses.

Key Contract Deliverables

The Association Liaison will:

  • Conduct 25 association meetings each month with senior leadership
  • Attend at least 1 association event per month
  • Create a 6–12-month strategy to ensure proper utilization of our association relationships and sponsorships to spread B2B messaging for things like Outlook Forum, survey participation, toolkit use and referendum
  • Assist with creation of speech briefing documents by combining association learnings with insights from local liaisons
  • Provide weekly summary of interactions through team calls and written reports
  • Stay in regular communication with our contacts at Civitas, CalChamber and other membership-based associations to ensure we know of all newly formed tourism associations
  • Attend all Visit California informational events (Outlook Forum, Board meetings, immersions, etc.)


  • Bachelor's degree or higher level of education in a business-related field such as sales and marketing, public relations or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Contractor must have an understanding of tourism-related associations across the state, existing contacts with tourism-related associations preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and client service skills
  • Excellent presentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to study and retain information quickly
  • Solid computer and technical skills
  • Established home office and experience working from home preferred
  • Ability to travel when state guidance allows
  • Ability to use a database system to look up information, update records and record activities



Compensation (including fees and expenses):

The total budget for this project shall vary based on qualifications.
