By David Lytle 08/12/2024
Seven California restaurants have received their first Michelin Star, three additional restaurants received two-star ratings and a new Green Star has been awarded — bringing the number of restaurants in the 2024 Michelin Guide California to 577 eateries from every corner of the state that offer 60 distinct types of cuisine.

The Michelin Guide California Ceremony, held Aug. 5 at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, highlighted these honorees and the abundance of other restaurants considered by Michelin as the best culinary establishments across the Golden State. With the new Green Star restaurant, the guide counts a total 16 sustainable eateries in California — more than any other state.
“Our inspectors continue to be impressed with this year’s selection, and we toast and celebrate the excellent chef and restaurant teams being recognized,” said Gwendal Poullennec, the international director of the Michelin Guides “The wide array of culinary offerings will excite foodies both near and far and continue to put California on the map.”

The guide also features 10 new Bib Gourmand restaurants, which Michelin recommends as restaurants that offer “great food at great value.”
