California Tourism Month
May 2020
In 2016, the California Legislature passed a bipartisan resolution declaring May California Tourism Month, spotlighting tourism’s role as a key economic driver for the Golden State. Travel is ingrained in the state’s very identity, and its economic and cultural benefits are undeniable. California Tourism Month is the time of year to look back on all that has been accomplished and to tell the state’s tourism story.
MAY IS CALIFORNIA TOURISM MONTH
The coronavirus pandemic has devastated California’s tourism industry, erasing 10 consecutive years of growth. However, tourism is one of the most resilient economic sectors. Unlike any other industry, tourism uniquely touches every community across the state — from California's biggest gateways to its most tucked-away locales. California Tourism Month provides a platform for Visit California to execute a multifaceted, statewide and monthlong strategy to educate, inform and engage with key audiences — and we need your help, now more than ever, to tell tourism’s story.
NOTE: Use the hashtag #CATourism and tag local officials in posts throughout California Tourism Month to join the statewide discussion on social media recognizing the tourism industry’s contribution to California’s economy.
