The Los Angeles Region Destination Mixer brought five regions to Sacramento to educate Visit California staff about new SoCal experiences, network and coordinate marketing strategies.
Visit Santa Clarita presented beer tastings from their very own Lucky Luke Brewing Company and hosted a Kahoot online Santa Clarita trivia game, sending visitors home with a swag bag full of local goodies.
Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor — the biggest attraction in the county (indeed the most roller coasters of any park on Earth!) — joined the presentation to share their newest ride, Wonder Woman: Flight of Courage, which is also setting records as the longest, tallest single-rail coaster.
Los Angeles Tourism (the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board) gave a presentation on their organization, current and future campaigns, as well as a sneak peek at the major events the city has secured over the next decade, building on a memorable Super Bowl (go Rams!). The heavy hitters are the World Cup games in 2026 and the 2028 Olympic Games — LA will be hosting for the third time and is one of the only destinations in history to host a profitable Olympics.
Los Angeles closed their presentation with local treats and trivia that highlighted new developments in the city, such as the upcoming the new Grand LA mixed-use complex, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry.
Discover Torrance shed light on the vibrant mix of nature and urban culture that draws tourists year-round. More than a dozen local breweries and notable restaurants serving seemingly every global cuisine make the city a can’t-miss for foodies.
Venture a bit deeper to discover natural wonders like the Madrona wetlands, which attracts tourists of a different sort — migratory birds heading north for the warm season. They also presented a social filter in an AR experience as well as some Torrance treats for guests to enjoy.
Visit Pasadena brought their Ice House Comedy Club partner to host a live “TV” show, which brought to life the city’s activities, culinary endeavors, rich cultural heritage and historic entertainment venues, including the newly restored Ice House (the first comedy club), Pasadena Playhouse (California’s official state theater) and of course … the first cheeseburger.
Santa Monica Travel and Tourism brought headsets to share their new virtual reality marketing video, which transports guests to a day in scenic Santa Monica.
The VR was incredibly effective at capturing the duality of this beach destination, combining a laid-back pace and captivating views with cutting edge innovations including the first solar-powered ferris when on the pier, sunset spin and yoga on the beach, and the experiential, one-of-a-kind Cayton Children’s Museum.
Visit California looks forward to meeting with more California regions in the months ahead.
