Tourism is thriving in California, and the Golden State enjoys the largest market share of any state in America. Join Visit California each May to discuss the vital role that tourism plays in the state with legislators, key stakeholders and our communities.

In 2016, the California Legislature passed a bipartisan resolution declaring May as California Tourism Month — spotlighting tourism’s role as a key economic driver for the Golden State. Travel is ingrained in the state’s very identity, and its economic and cultural benefits are undeniable. 

To showcase why travel matters, Visit California releases economic impact numbers each May. The report, commissioned by Visit California and conducted by Dean Runyan Associates, describes the economic activity associated with travel throughout the state, detailing important trends within the industry.
