For the first time ever, Christmas with Delta, the annual Australian holiday special hosted by musician and actress Delta Goodrem, was filmed in California, bringing the Golden State’s festive charm to over a million Australian households. Now in its sixth year, the broadcast has become a tradition in Australia, known for its star-studded performances and holiday spirit. This year’s edition continued its legacy by transporting audiences to Hollywood and showcasing the best of West Hollywood and Anaheim.
In collaboration with West Hollywood Travel + Tourism and Visit Anaheim, Visit California partnered with Delta Goodrem and Australian television network Nine Network to bring California’s most vibrant and festive destinations to Australian audiences. This strategic partnership integrated the state’s renowned attractions into the program, offering viewers a glimpse into the magic of California during the holiday season.
Working closely with Delta and her team, the show featured scenes from some of her favorite California locations, including West Hollywood’s Runyon Canyon, Great White Café, Sunset Marquis/Nightbird Studios and E.P. & L.P. Rooftop & Restaurant. In Anaheim, highlights included The Honda Center, Anaheim Packing House and The Westin Anaheim Resort.
Additionally, Delta’s Hollywood Bus Tour segment showcased iconic Los Angeles views, with multiple on-air mentions crediting Visit California for making the Hollywood experience possible.
The special featured an all-star musical lineup, including performances by Pat Monahan, Christina Perri, Josh Groban and Howie Dorough, among others. The breathtaking California scenery and world-class entertainment captivated audiences, making the Christmas with Delta premiere a major success. The broadcast attracted 1.6 million viewers, ranking as the third highest-rated program of the day. Due to overwhelming demand, the originally planned 90-minute special was extended to a full two-hour event.
Promotional efforts further amplified the program’s reach, with extensive coverage across Nine Network platforms. This included promotional spots, an interview with Delta on newsmagazine program A Current Affair discussing the special and widespread engagement across social media.
Visit California’s integration within the special not only reinforced the state’s positioning as a must-visit holiday destination but also delivered measurable value through prime-time media exposure. By bringing the magic of California to Australian screens, this collaboration successfully showcased the state’s vibrant culture, entertainment and festive charm, inspiring future travelers to experience it firsthand.
