Visit California joined Delta Air Lines and the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board in co-hosting a gala in Shanghai celebrating the relaunch of Delta’s nonstop Shanghai Pudong (PVG)–Los Angeles (LAX) service and the airline’s centennial milestone. The event welcomed over 110 guests from aviation, tourism, government and media sectors.
Delta officially announced the return of its PVG–LAX route, resuming on June 2, 2025. Operated by the Airbus A350-900, the service will run three times weekly, expanding Delta’s China–California service to 17 weekly nonstop flights. The relaunch reaffirms Delta’s long-term commitment to the China market and California’s continued importance for both business and leisure travel.
Guests enjoyed a California-inspired dinner paired with premium wines sponsored by Visit California, along with a celebratory raffle featuring a signature gift from the organization.
The event reflected growing confidence in the recovery of U.S.–China travel. Delta continues to play a key role in restoring air connectivity, and Visit California remains committed to supporting strategic partners in driving demand from one of the state’s most vital international markets.
The event was attended by Ms. Dilpreet Sidhu, Deputy Mayor of International Affairs for the City of Los Angeles; Mr. Navarro Moore, Deputy Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai; and senior leaders from Delta Asia Pacific, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board and Visit California China office.
