California mountain resort leaders and top state transportation officials convened last week for the annual California Snow Summit. Co-hosted by Visit California and the California State Transportation Agency, the summit provided resort executives direct access to senior leadership from CalSTA, California Department of Transportation – including six District Directors – and the California Highway Patrol.

The discussion focused on joint strategies to keep roads safe and accessible this snow season. State agencies and ski industry leaders reaffirmed their commitment to timely public communication. Resources like Caltrans’ QuickMap website and regional CHP social media accounts provide real-time updates on road conditions, closures and chain requirements.

The annual convening of ski industry leaders and state transportation officials helps to foster year-round alignment on traveler messaging, operational readiness to maintain road accessibility and destination economic sustainability. By connecting resort executives with key decision-makers from their local Caltrans and CHPs officers, the Snow Summit has helped create enduring relationships that improve communications and joint operations before, during and after snow events.
