Ultimate Winter Playground Press Trip Immerses Travel Journalists in Golden State

Visit California hosted 10 media from five of California’s top global markets — Australia, Canada, Germany, Mexico and the United Kingdom — on a press trip dedicated to showcasing the state as the ultimate winter playground.

The trip kicked off in Los Angeles with the Palihouse West Hollywood as homebase. In the City of Angels, the group immersed themselves in urban play including hiking to the Hollywood Sign with Hikes and Bikes LA ,an aerial tour of the city with Maverick Helicopter to rooftop drinks at Desert 5 Spot and a day at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Moving east, the group road tripped to Mammoth to hit the slopes for two days of skiing/snowboarding on fresh powder with rentals from Black Tie Rentals and two comfy nights at the The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth Après ski stops at Vulcania, Mammoth Mountain Brewery and Gomez were also included.
The group ended their fun in Huntington Beach via Advanced Airlines direct flight from Mammoth to Hawthrone to accomplish the ultimate California double — sea/snow and ski/surf in one day. With the Kimpton Shorebreak as their first stop, the group fueled up with bites from Pacific Hideaway then hit the waves for a surfing lesson with pro surfer Rocky Mckinnon. After some epic waves the group fueled up at Duke’s before a sunset charter on Huntington Harbor, final meal at Bluegold and a private yoga class on the beach.
